Not as the World Gives
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
— John 14:27 (NIV)
The night before the cross, Jesus ate Passover with His disciples. Judas would soon leave to betray Him. Peter would deny Him three times. Still Jesus said: Peace I leave with you. Not the world's numb escape. Calm of heart from Him, even while trouble was hours away.
Friday, nine p.m. The week left loose ends on your desk and in your chest. You open your phone to scroll the noise away. Jesus spoke peace to trembling friends hours before arrest. You can put the screen down and ask for His calm without fixing everything tonight.
Close the Scroll
- 1Call or text one person who had a hard week: 'Can I pray a sentence of peace over you?' Pray it together or aloud for them.
- 2Put your phone in another room thirty minutes before sleep. Repeat slowly five times: 'Your peace, not the world's.'
Jesus, my desk and my chest still hold this week's loose ends. You spoke peace to trembling friends before the cross. Give me that calm when I put the phone down tonight.
What troubled your heart this week that needs Jesus' peace, not another scroll?
How is Jesus' peace different?
It does not require perfect circumstances, it guards the heart inside unfinished life.
Does this remove problems?
No. It addresses the troubled heart while problems may remain.
Why Friday night?
A weekly exhale, receiving peace before another cycle begins.
