Come and Rest
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
— Matthew 11:28-29 (NIV)
In Jesus' day farmers yoked a young ox beside an older trained ox. The older one set the pace and bore most of the pull. Jesus says take My yoke: walk paired with Him, not dragging life's load alone. Soul rest is relief beside a Teacher who knows your name and your limits.
Thursday afternoon. Deadlines stack, people need answers, your own standards press like a weight on your neck. You have been pulling alone. Sit for one minute and picture walking beside Jesus, not racing ahead. Your soul can rest even before the list is done.
Unload Five Minutes
- 1Sit and name three burdens out loud, specific, not vague.
- 2Ask one person: 'Can I share one load with you today?' Accept help or prayer if they offer.
Jesus, my neck hurts from pulling alone. Yoke me beside You. Give my soul rest before this Thursday list is finished.
