While We Were Still

Augustine spent years chasing pleasure and running from God. He heard a child's voice say, take and read. He opened the Bible to Romans and read about Christ dying for sinners. Love reached him before he cleaned up his life. Paul writes the same truth: God showed love while we were still sinners.
Monday morning. Your mind replays what you said Saturday and what you skipped Sunday. Shame wants to keep you distant from God. Augustine found love waiting before his habits changed. You can open your hands today and receive what you cannot earn.
Receive Before Fixing
- 1Tell one trusted person: 'God loved me before I had it together.' Let them respond if they want.
- 2Name one failure from last week without excuses. Hold both palms open one minute and whisper: 'You loved me while I was still here.'
Lord, my mind keeps replaying Saturday's words. Augustine heard You call before he changed. Let me receive Your love with open hands this Monday.
What changes when you receive love before you fix yourself?
Does this excuse sin?
No. It removes fear as the engine of change. Love invites transformation from acceptance.
