For Such a Time
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
— Esther 4:14 (NIV)
Esther was queen, and entering the king's presence uninvited could cost her life. Her cousin Mordecai sent word that her position was not protection, it was placement. Notice the wording. Not you were made for this, but who knows. He offers her no certainty at all. She acted without it, and her reply is one of the bravest lines in Scripture: if I perish, I perish.
Mordecai deliberately gave Esther no guarantee, and she went anyway. Nobody speaks up because they finally feel certain, because certainty always arrives late. You speak when silence starts costing more than the words would. You can say it today, briefly and kindly.

Why was approaching the king dangerous?
Persian court protocol meant entering the king's presence uninvited risked execution unless he extended his sceptre.
Why does Mordecai say who knows?
He deliberately offers no guarantee. Esther has to choose without the certainty she would have preferred.
Is every position a calling?
The text does not claim that. It asks a question rather than making a rule, and leaves the weighing to her.
