A Voice Behind You
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'”

Shepherds drove the flock from behind and called out when an animal drifted off the track. That is the picture here. Isaiah wrote it to people who had stopped consulting God and made their own alliances, so the promise follows a rebuke. It is not a voice that stops you before you move. It is a voice that reaches you once you are already walking.
Most people replay a conversation afterwards, not during it. That is usually when correction arrives, and it does not mean you missed your chance. The voice is behind you because you are already moving. Keep going, and stay willing to hear it.
