Renewed Strength
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Isaiah wrote to exiles worn down by long waiting. Those who hope in the Lord renew strength. Eagles soar high. Runners keep pace. Walkers simply go without fainting. All three count. Some days walking to the mailbox is the victory God honors.
Which pace do you actually have today, rather than the one you think you should have? Isaiah listed three and put walking without fainting last, on purpose. He was writing to people worn down by years, not to athletes. Take the pace you have and God will meet you at it.
Match Your Pace
- 1Text someone tired this month: 'Small steps count. I'm cheering for you.'
- 2Walk ten minutes at whatever pace you have. With each step say: 'Hope in the Lord renews me.'
Lord, I am tired. Give me enough for the next step, not for the whole road.
I will go at the pace I actually have.
Do I need to feel like an eagle?
The verse covers soaring, running, and walking, God meets your actual pace.
What does hope in the Lord mean?
Active trust and waiting on Him, not forcing strength by willpower alone.
When does renewal come?
Often gradually, faithfulness in small steps while hope stays fixed on God.
