Lean, Don't Steer
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
Solomon wrote this to people who plan hard and still get lost. In his day, travelers leaned on a walking stick on rough roads instead of guessing every step. Trust all your heart means you stop forcing every outcome alone. Submit your ways means you invite God into real decisions, not only Sunday prayers.
You planned the whole weekend: chores, people, maybe rest. One plan already fell apart. You can still walk forward and ask God to straighten what you cannot fix alone.
One Open Hand
- 1Name one plan you are gripping too hard, out loud to God.
- 2Ask one person for help with one small piece of that plan today.
Lord, my weekend plan already wobbled. I open my hands. Straighten what I cannot fix alone.
Which plan are you steering so hard that trust has no room?
Does trusting God mean doing nothing?
No. You still walk. Trust means you stop forcing outcomes God never asked you to carry alone.
What is 'submit in all your ways'?
It means inviting God into decisions, work, rest, relationships, not only Sunday thoughts.
How do I know the path is straightening?
Sometimes you see it clearly; sometimes you simply keep walking faithfully while peace grows in the process.
