Number Our Days
“Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
— Psalm 90:12 (NIV)
Moses wrote this prayer after watching a whole generation pass in the desert. He asks God to teach us to count our days. It is not about fearing death. It is about living awake. When you know time is short, you spend it on what matters.
June ends today. Another month gone, faster than you expected. It is easy to drift week to week on autopilot. One honest look back at June can wake you up for July.
Look Back, Look Ahead
- 1Write one thing from June you are grateful for, and one thing you want to do differently in July.
- 2Tell one person your one change for July, so it becomes real.
Lord, time moves fast. Teach me to number my days and live with a wise heart as this month ends.
If you truly counted your days, what would you stop, and what would you start?
What does 'number our days' mean?
Live with healthy awareness that life is finite, so your choices reflect what truly matters.
Is this about fear of death?
It is about wisdom, not panic. Counting days helps you invest time well rather than waste it.
How do we gain a 'heart of wisdom'?
By asking God to teach us, reviewing how we live, and aligning daily choices with lasting purpose.
