Come and Rest
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
— Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
Jesus addresses people carrying heavy religious and life burdens. His invitation is relational before instructional: come to Me. Rest here is not escape from responsibility; it is relief from soul-crushing self-salvation and endless striving.
You can look functional while deeply exhausted inside. Jesus does not shame your fatigue; He welcomes it. The first move is not proving strength but coming honestly. Rest begins where pretense ends.
Bring Him the Weight
- 1Name one burden that has made your heart tired this week.
- 2In prayer, picture placing it into Jesus' hands and sit in silence for two minutes.
Jesus, I come tired and heavy. Give me Your rest and teach me to carry life with You, not without You.
What burden do you keep carrying alone that Jesus specifically invited you to bring?
Who is invited in Matthew 11:28?
Everyone weary and burdened—spiritually, emotionally, and practically. No one is excluded from Christ's invitation.
What kind of rest does Jesus promise?
Deep soul-rest rooted in His presence, not merely physical downtime or temporary distraction.
How do I come to Jesus practically?
By honest prayer, surrender of burdens, and daily dependence on His words and ways.
