Speak, Lord
Anchor
“Speak, for your servant is listening.”
— 1 Samuel 3:10 (NIV)
What it means
Young Samuel learns to recognize God's voice in a quiet, ordinary setting. His response is short and decisive: availability before instruction. Listening in Scripture is never passive; it is readiness to obey what is heard.
In your life
Many prayers are monologues with little space for listening. This verse teaches a different rhythm: pause, attend, receive. God may not always speak loudly, but He forms people who are willing to hear and respond.
Today's challenge
Practice Listening Prayer
- 1Set five quiet minutes and pray: 'Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening.'
- 2Write down one Scripture phrase or conviction that stands out, then obey one part of it today.
Prayer
Lord, quiet my noise and make me teachable. I am listening for Your voice and ready to obey.
Reflect
What might God be saying that you keep missing because you are always rushing?
