Receive This Day
Anchor
“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24 (NIV)
What it means
This verse is not shallow optimism. It is covenant memory. Israel sings it after rescue: God acted, therefore this day is gift, not accident. Rejoicing here means receiving the day from God's hand before judging it by comfort or productivity.
In your life
You can begin a day already annoyed, rushed, or disappointed. This psalm interrupts that spiral. Before the inbox, before the noise, you choose posture: this day is made by the Lord. Gratitude does not deny pain; it refuses to let pain define the whole day.
Today's challenge
Start With Three Gifts
- 1Before noon, write down three specific gifts from this morning.
- 2Thank God for each one by name, even if one feels very small.
Prayer
Lord, I receive this day from You. Give me a grateful heart that notices grace before complaint.
Reflect
What changes today if you treat this day as gift, not as burden?
