Ask Without Pretending
Anchor
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
— James 1:5 (NIV)
What it means
James assumes something healthy: believers will lack wisdom at times. The solution is not performance but prayer. God gives generously and 'without finding fault' — He does not shame you for asking. Wisdom in Scripture is practical God-shaped discernment for real choices.
In your life
You may be facing a decision and feeling pressure to appear certain. This verse frees you from pretending. You can come honestly: 'I do not know what to do.' God is not irritated by that prayer. He meets it with generosity.
Today's challenge
Pray One Specific Decision
- 1Name one decision you need wisdom for this week.
- 2Ask God for wisdom in one sentence, then write down one next faithful step you sense is right.
Prayer
Lord, I lack wisdom and I ask You without hiding. Give me clear discernment and courage for the next right step.
Reflect
Where are you still pretending certainty instead of asking God for wisdom?
