Work From the Inside Out
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.”
— Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV)
Paul wrote these words to people with ordinary, often hard jobs. He does not say every task is exciting. He says every task can be offered. 'With all your heart' means with integrity, not with hype. And 'as for the Lord' shifts the center: your work is no longer first about pleasing people. It becomes worship in motion.
It is the first day of a new month. You may already feel pressure: deadlines, bills, unfinished things. This verse gives you one reset: do today's work in front of God, not in front of fear. Even hidden tasks matter when they are done for Him. The room may not applaud, but heaven sees.
Offer One Task
- 1Choose one concrete task today that you usually do with resentment or hurry.
- 2Before starting it, say: 'Lord, I offer this to You. Teach me to do it with a whole heart.'
Jesus, meet me in ordinary work today. Purify my motives, steady my hands, and let my labor become worship.
What part of your work life needs to move from pressure to offering today?
