Peace and Holiness: The Path to Seeing God
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
— Hebrews 12:14 (NIV)
The writer of Hebrews calls us to actively pursue peace with everyone around us while also pursuing holiness—a life set apart for God. These two pursuits aren't separate; they work together. Without this commitment to both peace and holiness, we cannot truly experience God's presence and see Him as He is.
Today, you might face tensions with a coworker, family member, or friend. This verse invites you to choose peace first—not by compromising your values, but by pursuing both reconciliation and integrity. When you let go of grudges and live with a clean conscience before God, you create space to experience His presence in your daily moments.
Peace and Holiness This Week
- 1Identify one relationship where peace feels distant, and take one small step toward reconciliation—a text, a conversation, or simply releasing resentment in prayer.
- 2Examine one area of your life where holiness is being compromised, and commit to one concrete change that honors God.
- 3End each day this week by reflecting: Did I pursue peace today? Did I live with integrity? Thank God for the progress.
Lord, help me pursue peace with others and holiness within myself, so that I may truly see and know You.
Where is God inviting me to choose peace today, and how might living with greater holiness deepen my relationship with Him?
